Part of BBC Online's admirable program of getting its education sites (not to mention versions of popular programmes such as Eastenders) to those who have difficulty with conventional text presentation, such as the visually impaired and blind people. The site is designed to work with screenreading software that allows your computer to read the words on screen out loud to you. Betsie overcomes the classic website problem of having different bits of text dotted around the page - hugely confusing for screenreaders.

Hugely useful site for those with problems of dyslexia, spelling and numeracy. Spellwell is actually a software manufacturer, but its website gives you a handy taster of its highly thought of software. In the time-honoured web spirit of try before you buy, you can download trials of software from the site. Having seen if the software meets your needs, you can then tailor it to your wants - ordering from a choice of fonts, background colours and so forth.
