Internet Access on the cheap
The Dixon stores group is offering free Internet access along with unlimited E-mail addresses and 5mb of web space. The system is accessed through an 0845 number. This service is only available in the UK. The system uses IE4 which comes on the installation disk that you can pick up from Dixons, Currys or PC World. The setting up of your E-mail address is technically easy but getting the name you want is quite difficult; David-James@EDIT-Bradford became EDIT-Bradford@freeserve.co.uk. When I tried a second time and reversed the name I got what I wanted. You will understand what I mean if you try to join Freeserve.
If an account is not used for more than a month then the user area is deleted.

Free web space
Geocities "It's a community thing"
Geocities can provide you with 10 mb of free web space provided you are over 16 years of age. You will have to suffer some advertising but by careful writing of a web page you can have it inserted at the bottom of your page. Geocities is divided up into communities and each community has a particular theme. Athens is the educational area of Geocities. To find a web space you have to go house hunting. Go into a particular neighbourhood and look for an empty house. If you like its location then you register it for yourself.
The first web page you create must be called index.html - when Geocities launches your site it looks for a file called index.html. (It's like having autoexec.bat on a PC).
